Insights from Our Dysautonomia Group Visits: Stay Healthy and Salty!

dysautonomia fascia pots Feb 22, 2024

We recently held a Dysautonomia group visit led by Dr. Cheng Ruan, where members came together to share their experiences and strategies for managing symptoms. The session was enlightening and provided valuable insights into various techniques that can help alleviate the challenges associated with Dysautonomia.

Sharing Experiences and Strategies: During the group visit, Dr. Ruan shared his recent experience with altitude sickness, highlighting its parallels with Dysautonomia. He discussed the techniques he used to manage his symptoms, including hydration with salt water, fascia release, and acupuncture. These methods proved effective not only at high altitudes but also in managing Dysautonomia symptoms regardless of elevation.

Understanding the Role of Fascia: Dr. Ruan emphasized the importance of fascia, or connective tissue, in contributing to Dysautonomia symptoms. Tight fascia can exacerbate pain and discomfort, making fascia release a crucial aspect of symptom management. He recommended using a fascia ball to release tension in areas such as the cheeks, neck, and clavicle, or applying pressure with fingers if a fascia ball is unavailable.

Hydration and Medication Management: Hydration emerged as another key aspect of Dysautonomia management. Dr. Ruan suggested using LMNT salt packets to aid hydration, with adjustments made based on individual tolerance levels and hydration needs. When dealing especially with blood pressure drops, commonly experienced by those dealing with POTS, it is especially important to manage fluid and salt intake.

To further support symptom management, Dr. Ruan recommended exploring additional fascia release techniques through fascia release sessions with Jill Economakos and Manna Pilates & Health, as well as considering other modalities such as Pilates and acupuncture. The focus remains on learning from and adapting to symptoms rather than pushing through them, with a holistic approach to creating peace and balance within the body.

Conclusion: Our Dysautonomia group visit with Dr. Cheng Ruan provided valuable insights and practical strategies for managing symptoms and improving quality of life. By sharing experiences and expertise, our community continues to support one another on the journey towards wellness. We look forward to continued collaboration and empowerment in our future group visits. Text us for more info and to join our group visits at 713-597-4521.
